As announced in May, Dr. Maria Hubinette was appointed the inaugural Canfield Distinguished Scholar in Patient Partnerships at UBC, a joint position between the Patient and Community Partnership for Education at UBC Health and the Centre for Health Education Scholarship in the Faculty of Medicine. 

In her new role, Dr. Hubinette aims to augment existing initiatives and pave the way for new ideas and opportunities for patients and community members to offer their expertise to support health education and healthcare decision-making.

Dr. Hubinette and Carolyn Canfield, who provided the inspiration and philanthropic donation behind the new leadership position, recently sat down with UBC to talk about the vision to create more pathways to connect patients and community members with care providers, educators, and researchers to improve the healthcare experience for everyone.
