UBC Health and BC Centre on Substance Use have had a formal partnership for the past five years that has helped facilitate the integration of learning and resources on substance use into the health programs at UBC.
BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU)
The BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) is a UBC-affiliated centre dedicated to advancing research, education, and clinical guidance in substance use and addiction medicine across BC. The BCCSU develops evidence-based clinical guidelines, offers training programs, and works to translate research into practice province-wide.

Resources
Here are two excellent resources related to substance use and addiction care that may be of interest to students, faculty, and staff in the health disciplines:
BC ECHO on Substance Use
Hosted by BCCSU, the BC ECHO on Substance Use is a free, CME-accredited virtual learning community for health care providers. Through monthly online sessions, it connects primary care teams with addiction experts. Sessions include short lectures, real-world case presentations, and collaborative discussions designed to strengthen evidence-based approaches to substance use care. Students are welcome to attend.
The BC ECHO also produces the Addiction Practice Pod, a podcast featuring conversations with clinicians, researchers, and people with lived experience. Episodes explore topics such as recovery, trauma- and violence-informed care, stigma, Indigenous wellness, and emerging clinical issues. Each episode offers practical insights and clinical pearls for applying evidence-based approaches in practice.
