Patients In Education (PIE)

An independent community organization to promote patient involvement

PCPE connects PIE and the university. Our partnership arose from a mutual commitment to enhance the education of health and social care professionals through the diverse, autonomous and authentic participation of patients and community members. We believe that patient and community collaboration in education is essential to prepare current and future practitioners to work in partnership with both patients and communities.

Our partnership envisions PIE as the ‘go-to’ organization to meet the emerging and increasing needs of UBC health faculty and students for a ready source for a variety of needs for patient and community educators.

PIE was recognized by the UBC Health Council as a voice for patients and community when the UBC Health Council established a Patient / Community Advisory Committee (PAC) as standing committee in 2017. Members of PAC are recommended by PIE and approved by the Health Council.
