UBC Health wishes to congratulate Nolan Chem. He is recognized as an exemplary leader and innovator, by the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) for his academic excellence and his work with the Community Health Initiative by University Students (CHIUS) and the Vancouver Native Health (VNH) Youth Dinner program. CHIUS is supported by UBC Health and UBC Post-graduate Medical Education (PGME).

Last May, UBC Health welcomed Nolan as the Team Lead for the CHIUS Vancouver Native Health Youth Dinner program. Nolan’s commitment to the Indigenous youth and passion for the VNH dinner program is evident. He is a strong advocate for collaborative team-work and culturally appropriate community-centred health and human services.

Nolan is the only UBC recipient and one of only 14 Canadian medical students recognized for their passion, dedication, leadership and innovative contributions to their communities.
