UBC Health and the BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) work together to enhance substance use education, training, and research for health professional students at UBC. Through this partnership, BCCSU is providing free registration to 30 health and human services students at UBC for the BC Substance Use Conference, to be held virtually on May 16-17, 2022.

The BC Substance Use Conference brings together stakeholders from across the province to share clinical expertise, lived experiences, and the latest evidence relating to substance use. This two-day virtual conference will include keynote speakers, presentations, and panels on the latest research, education, and clinical care guidance on the conference theme, All Together: Advancing Equity, Sharing Innovations

Health professional students who attended the conference last year have said they gained insight from people with lived experience, activists, and researchers, enhanced their understanding of how physicians, pharmacists, and allied health work together to combat the crisis, and reflected on how to apply new approaches to care in their future practice.

Health professional students at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan are encouraged to attend. Students interested in receiving sponsored registration may apply online by April 25, 2022.

Students will be notified by April 29, 2022 whether they have receive sponsored registration. Sponsored students will be asked to complete a post-conference survey as a way to share their experiences and learnings.
