UBC Health brings together people and ideas from across the university and the health sector to strengthen collaborations in health education, research and health system improvement. We work through the Office of the Vice-President, Health, leading initiatives that support interdisciplinary partnerships, enhancing training and connecting research with policy and practice. We support inclusive collaborations across disciplines and faculties at UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses, as well as distributed sites across the province. We also collaborate with communities, institutions, and government partners, to ensure diverse perspectives inform our work. Our role continues to evolve as we move toward a more integrated approach to health education, research, and health systems transformation, reflected in the creation of a centre for innovation in collaborative health education and team-based care

We are committed to:
• Helping health students and graduates gain the skills to work well in team-based, interprofessional settings
• Supporting students in understanding the diverse experiences of patients and communities
• Encouraging instructors and practitioners to lead and advance collaborative health education and practi
UBC Health’s Role in Supporting Interdisciplinary Health Research
We design and deliver programs that spark collaboration in health research. Our initiatives foster communities of practice, support new research partnerships, and contribute to provincial health priorities. We aim to help researchers at UBC work together to address the pressing and interconnected challenges that affect the health and well-being of communities. In this work, we also act as a bridge between university-based researchers and the health sector, supporting the exchange and mobilization of knowledge.
We are committed to enabling:
- Growth in interdisciplinary health research and knowledge mobilization
- Better alignment of data, policies, and processes across UBC to support applied health research
- Research approaches and data use that confront systemic racism and inequities and that include the voices and experiences of all populations
