ImpactBC Scholarship in Health Care Research and Development
Scholarships totalling $6,700* have been made available through an endowment established by ImpactBC for outstanding student(s) enrolled in a UBC Health program who have completed a research or development project focusing on patient/client involvement in health care decision-making or in health professional education. ImpactBC was instrumental in advancing health care improvement and patient engagement in B.C. from 2000-2015. The awards are made on the recommendation of the Office of UBC Health, and in the case of graduate students, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
* One or more scholarships valued at a minimum of $1,000 each will be offered every year. Availability and total value of scholarship(s) are subject to confirmation of funds.
- Applicant must be registered in a health or human services degree program at UBC and be in good academic standing;
- must have completed, as part of the applicant’s studies in a health or human services degree program at UBC, a research or development project focusing on patient/client involvement in health care decision-making or in health professional education; and
- must meet the minimum requirements for holding and retaining scholarships as stated in the UBC Senate Regulations Governing University Awards.

Request an original transcript from the Registrar’s Office to be mailed directly to:

Request two letters of recommendations from referees with formal academic or health professional roles who can clearly describe the impact of your research or development project focusing on patient/client involvement in health care decision-making or in health professional education, and the value that you brought to the research or project. Letters of recommendation (maximum 2 pages each) must be sent directly by your referees to Susana Leon, Administrator, either via email to email@example.com or by mail to the address listed above.
Note: Applicants must ensure that transcripts and letters of recommendation are received in the Office of UBC Health by the application deadline in order for application package to be complete. Late or incomplete application packages will not be considered.
The ImpactBC Scholarship in Health Care Research and Development winners will be selected by the UBC Health Awards Committee, which is comprised of UBC faculty members, students and public members from the health community.
By accepting the ImpactBC Scholarship, winners consent to having student's name and program of study published on the UBC Health website and other media for the purpose of promoting UBC Health Awards.
