The Office of the Vice-President, Health celebrated recipients of the 2022 UBC Health Awards and Scholarships at a ceremony in March. 

The celebration began with a special message from Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Vice-President, Health. Guest presenters included R. Paul Kerston, long-time community educator, and Dr. Larry Lynd, Associate Dean Research, Professor, and Director of the Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC.

The outstanding individual and team recipients embodied excellence in interprofessional collaboration, health education, and research and made significant contributions to advancing health education and practice.

Dr. Christie Newton, Associate Vice-President, Health pro tem, thanked recipients for their commitment and contributions towards making a difference.

“It has been truly inspiring to hear about the accomplishments of faculty members, students, and community educators who all have one ultimate goal—to improve the health and wellbeing of people across British Columbia," said Dr. Newton. “Whether teaching and mentoring trainees, conducting innovative health research, or providing invaluable patient perspectives, each of our award recipients today embodies the spirit of collaboration and dedication in advancing health education, practice, and research. Together, we are improving education, advancing research, and enhancing health."
